Native Bees virtual workshop will be presented by Master Gardener and fellow MontCo-Retired member Sandy Sweeney.   Thursday, March 18, 2021 at 10:00 am.

There are 400 species of native bees in Pennsylvania and they are much better at the task of pollination than honey bees. Because they do not have a social hive to protect, they are not aggressive and very seldom sting. Providing nesting assistance for tube dwelling natives is much less expensive than trying to establish a hive of honey bees; and even children can safely observe the entire process up close and personal without concern for special clothing or equipment. Everyone can participate in their own back yard to help native bees to survive and they could really benefit from our participation.
